Affordability: This project is transit friendly - just a block away from bus service on a major thoroughfare and walking distance to the Sausalito ferry. Local schools are within easy biking distance. Sausalito has built very little affordable units. This project offers 25% affordable units. This is higher than required and higher than the vast majority of mixed income projects in Marin. Multi-family housing is significantly more affordable than the single family homes that dominate the Sausalito housing market. Last year, the average home sales price was $2.2 Million. The average condominium was less than half the cost at $970,000.
Environmental: This project replaces four neglected houses with 19 homes. Reusing already developed land and increasing density conserves our undeveloped land. This is the type of project needed to reduce sprawl and car dependency.
This project consists of 19 residential condominiums, with 4 units designated for affordable housing.
