Guiding Principles

The founding organizations of Call Marin Home (Marin Environmental Housing Collaborative, Canal Alliance, Community Action Marin, Habitat for Humanity, Homeward Bound of Marin, Legal Aid of Marin, North Bay Leadership Council, and North Marin Community Services) created the guiding principles for Call Marin Home. These are:

• We believe that all Marin residents deserve safe and secure housing. 
• We believe that anyone who works in Marin should have the opportunity to live in Marin.
• We believe that Marin County’s housing crisis can only be solved by utilizing the 3 Ps:
  • Production: Significantly increase housing supply. 
  • Preservation: Preserve existing affordable housing and prevent displacement.
  • Tenant Protections: Strengthen tenant protections to ensure stability, prevent unjust evictions, and promote fair landlord-tenant relationships.
• We embody the values of inclusion, equity, unity, collaboration, transparency, honesty, accountability, respect, and humility.
• We are united in our goals, recognizing that differing views may arise. To achieve our mission, we’ll focus on community-wide solutions. We will honor the trust of the group by aligning their actions with the spirit of collaboration and mutual respect. We refrain from actions that would directly undermine coalition initiatives.
